Privacy Policy

The short version

Mixtape Cat shows no ads, uses no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and never sells your data. The only information we hold is what you create to use the app — your public profile and the mixtapes you choose to share. Almost everything lives in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit), tied to your Apple Account. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.

What we collect

Profile you create. If you set one up: a username, an avatar image, and a short bio. These are public — they appear next to cassettes you share.

Mixtapes you share. When you share a cassette, its title, tracklist metadata (song and artist names, artwork references from Apple Music), and your decorations are published to the public feed and to its share page at mixtapecat.com. Sharing is always your choice — nothing is published automatically.

Ratings, badges, and reports. Ratings you give shared cassettes, badges you earn, and any reports you send us about other users' content.

Purchase status. If you subscribe to Mixtape Cat Neon, Apple processes the purchase and tells us only the subscription's product and status, linked to a random identifier the app generates — not your name, email, or payment details. An active subscription may be shown publicly as a Neon badge on your profile.

Share-page logs. The mixtapecat.com share pages run on Google's Firebase hosting, which keeps standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to serve pages and prevent abuse.

What we don't collect

No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics, no location, no contacts, no tracking across other apps or websites. Your Apple Music listening history and library never leave your device for our benefit — see below.

Apple Music

Mixtape Cat works with your Apple Music subscription through Apple's MusicKit, on your device. Reading your playlists and playing songs happens between your device and Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive or store your listening history. Only the mixtapes you explicitly share are sent to our public feed.

Where your data lives

Public profiles and shared cassettes are stored in Apple's CloudKit public database. Your own unshared tapes live in your Apple Music library and on your device. Share pages are served by Google Firebase. We operate no servers of our own that store your personal data.

Public content — think before you share

Anything you publish — username, avatar, bio, and shared cassettes — is visible to all Mixtape Cat users and, via share links, to anyone on the web. Don't put anything in a tape label, decoration, or bio you wouldn't want public.

Moderation

To keep the feed safe we review reported content and may keep records of reports, moderation decisions, and notices we send you in the app. Content that breaks our Terms of Use can be removed and repeat offenders restricted.

Deleting your data

You can remove any shared cassette from within the app, and reset your account (deleting your public profile and shared content) from the app's settings. For anything else — or a full deletion request — email hello@mixtapecat.com and we'll take care of it promptly. Deleting the app alone does not delete content you've already shared.

Children

Mixtape Cat is not directed at children under 13, and using it requires an Apple Music subscription and Apple Account subject to Apple's own age requirements. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way we'll update this page and the date above. Continued use of Mixtape Cat after a change means the updated policy applies.
