Why Cassettes?
Before streaming, sharing music meant effort. You picked the songs, you ordered them with intent, you scribbled the label, and you handed someone a physical object that said I made this for you. Mixtape Cat brings that feeling back — without the chewed-up tape.
Every playlist in your Apple Music library can become a cassette: a colorful, decoratable tape you can play on a boombox, share with the world, and pass along like it's 1986.
How It Works
-
1. Make
Pick a playlist or build one from scratch in the app. Mixtape Cat wraps it in a cassette with its own look and label.
-
2. Decorate
Draw on the label, add stickers, and pick your tape color. No two cassettes look alike.
-
3. Share
Publish to People's Playlists or send a mixtapecat.com link. Anyone with the app can open it instantly.
-
4. Capture
Love a tape someone shared? Capture it and the playlist is rebuilt in your own library, song for song.
The Music Part
Mixtape Cat is built on Apple Music. Playing, capturing, and building mixtapes requires an active Apple Music subscription. Cassette metadata — titles, tags, and track listings — is shared through iCloud, so there are no extra accounts to create and no passwords to remember.
Where You Can Use It
Supported regions: Mixtape Cat is available to users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. We hope to spin up more regions over time.
